Their story
9th & Larkin began in a tiny San Francisco kitchen. Brian and Lan, a husband-and-wife team working in tech, got curious about making a chocolate bar entirely from scratch and tried it at home, with beans, husks and nibs flying and the smoke detector going off.
They liked the results, and the process, enough to turn it into a business in 2017. The name comes from a San Francisco street corner, and the company still makes every batch in the city.
Today 9th & Larkin is part of the Bay Area's craft chocolate scene, known for single-origin bars that let each cacao's character come through.
How it's made
9th & Larkin sources cacao directly from farmers and cooperatives around the world, including the Kokoa Kamili co-op in Tanzania and the Bejofo Estate in Madagascar. Each small batch is roasted, ground and tempered by hand in San Francisco, with a short ingredient list of cacao beans, cane sugar and cocoa butter.

Why we carry them
9th & Larkin is San Francisco chocolate in the truest sense, made a few miles from our shops. The single-origin bars are a great way to taste how much cacao changes from one farm to the next.
