Their story
Neal Leathers and Brad Robinson moved from Michigan to Missoula in 1990 and started planning a brewery. Montana native Bjorn Nabozney joined them, writing the business plan while a student at the University of Montana.
Big Sky Brewing opened in 1995 as a draft-only brewery on Hickory Street. In 2002 it moved to a larger building on Trumpeter Way so it could bottle, and the three partners still run it. The brewery also built an outdoor amphitheater that hosts concerts and charity events.
How it's made
The brewery produces tens of thousands of barrels a year from its Missoula home. The lineup centers on Moose Drool brown ale, with pale ales, an IPA, a lager, an imperial stout and rotating seasonals.
Why we carry them
Moose Drool is a malty, easygoing brown ale that we think deserves more love. It is a great match for burgers and roast chicken.
