Their story

Bladnoch sits on the banks of the River Bladnoch near Wigtown, in Scotland's far southwest. Brothers John and Thomas McClelland were licensed to distill on their farm there in 1817.

The distillery has changed hands many times and gone quiet more than once, including closures in 1905, 1937 and 1993 and a stretch in administration in 2014. In 2015 Australian businessman David Prior bought it, refurbished the site, and restarted distilling in 2017.

How it's made

Bladnoch makes single malt in the light, grassy and malty Lowland style. The character has shifted with each owner over the years, from floral to nuttier and spicier, with some peated malt along the way.

Why we carry them

We like Bladnoch for anyone who prefers a gentle, fresh Scotch to a smoky one. It is a lovely aperitif dram.
