Their story
Callie's Hot Little Biscuit began in Charleston, South Carolina, in 2005, when Carrie Morey started selling biscuits made from the recipe of her mother, Callie. Callie's biscuits were already well known around town, and the business grew from that local following. Callie later retired, and Carrie took the company forward.
Today the brand sells frozen biscuits online and through specialty food stores across the country, and runs biscuit shops in Charleston and Atlanta. It has picked up a number of sofi Awards from the Specialty Food Association along the way.
How it's made
A small team in Charleston rolls and cuts the biscuits by hand, working from Callie's original recipe with butter and buttermilk. Flavored versions fold in ingredients like bacon roasted in-house with brown sugar and spices, or country ham with Dijon butter. The biscuits are frozen so they can be baked fresh at home.
That has always been my goal, to retrain people that this is actually what a biscuit should taste like.
Why we carry them
We keep these in mind for weekend breakfasts and easy entertaining. A few minutes in the oven and you have a real Southern biscuit without the flour on the counter.
