Campo Azul
Highlands tequila from a family distillery among Jesús María's agave fields.

- Jesús María, Jalisco
Their story
Casa Campo Azul sits in Jesús María, in the Jalisco highlands, surrounded by blue agave and red soil. It was founded by Don Ricardo López, who learned to grow agave from his father before deciding to make tequila himself.
The brand's 1940 line is named for the year Don Ricardo was born, a tribute to the founder and the agave-growing roots behind the distillery.
How it's made
Agave shoots are replanted and grown for seven to eight years before harvest. The piñas cook for about 30 hours in a traditional masonry oven with steam, then rest, before milling and a 78-hour fermentation. The tequila is double distilled in stainless steel stills.
Why we carry them
We like Campo Azul as an honest highlands tequila at a friendly price. The blanco is bright and peppery, great for margaritas.
