Their story
Cantine Elvio Tintero sits in the Gramella area of Mango, in Piedmont's province of Cuneo. The estate dates to 1900, when Pierre Tintero, born in France, settled here and married into a local family. Today Marco Tintero and his partner Cinzia run it as the fourth generation.
The family bottled Dolcetto as early as 1914, but after World War II sold most of its Moscato grapes to big vermouth houses. It was Elvio Tintero who began making frizzante wines in the 1980s, setting the course for the estate's Moscato d'Asti.
How it's made
The family farms 30 hectares at 450 to 500 meters, mostly Moscato, on south-facing clay and limestone slopes. Vineyards are farmed sustainably. The flagship Sorì Gramella comes from a single limestone amphitheater, and the house style is fresh and fruit-forward.
Why we carry them
We keep Tintero's Moscato d'Asti around for brunch and dessert. It is lightly sweet, gently fizzy and low in alcohol.
