Their story

Alexia Capolino Perlingieri grew up in Solopaca, in the province of Benevento, where her mother was an early winemaker in the area. After her grandfather and mother had stepped back from wine, Alexia left an investment banking job in Milan and returned home in 2003, at thirty, to take it up again.

She is the third generation of her family to make wine. The estate lies in Castelvenere, in the Telesina Valley of the Sannio, about 45 miles inland from Naples near the Taburno massif. Her winery is a restored old stone house close to the vines, the same one pictured on her labels.

How it's made

About 12 hectares of vines sit around 300 meters up, alongside 5 hectares of olives. Alexia farms organically and harvests by hand, growing local grapes such as Falanghina, Greco, Fiano, Sciascinoso and Aglianico. In the cellar she keeps intervention to a minimum.

Why we carry them

We like these as a way into inland Campania beyond the usual names. The Falanghina is bright and easy with seafood pasta.
