Casa Forcello

Mantua mostarde and preserves made in small batches from Italian fruit.

Mantua, Lombardy

Their story

Casa Forcello makes fruit mostarde and preserves in Mantova, the Lombard city famous for its sweet and spicy mustard fruits. The company says its recipes come from the family and date back to 1892.

Mantuan mostarda is a local tradition: fruit, often pear or quince, candied slowly and sharpened with mustard so it bites as much as it sweetens. Casa Forcello keeps to that style with jars of pear, plum, crab apple and other fruits.

How it's made

Casa Forcello works in small batches using hand-selected Italian fruit. The fruit is candied and then seasoned with mustard, giving a preserve that is sweet up front with a clean heat at the finish.

Why we carry them

We reach for a jar of Casa Forcello whenever we build a cheese board. The pear mostarda with an aged cheese or a slice of bollito is a classic for good reason.
