Their story
Castellinuzza e Piuca is a small family farm near the hamlet of Lamole, high in the hills above Greve in Chianti. Simone Coccia runs it today with his family.
The Coccias worked this land as sharecroppers before Simone's father and uncle bought it in 1962. In 1985 the estate was divided among five brothers, and this piece stayed a working farm, with cattle and other crops alongside the vines.
How it's made
The vines grow on small, rocky terraces at about 450 to 550 meters and are farmed organically. The Chianti Classico is mostly Sangiovese with some Canaiolo, picked by hand, fermented with native yeast in stainless steel and aged 12 to 14 months in cement.
Why we carry them
This is the kind of Chianti we wish there were more of: bright, honest and made on a real farm. Pour it with anything off the grill or a simple tomato pasta.
