Their story

The Clua family has worked vines around Vilalba dels Arcs, in Catalonia's Terra Alta, for four generations. Xavier Clua leads the winery today, bringing university training in viticulture and winemaking to the family's long experience.

For years the family sold its wine in bulk. In 1995 they began bottling under their own labels.

Terra Alta is a dry, sunny inland zone where vines have grown since medieval times, and it is best known for white Garnatxa.

How it's made

The winery makes Terra Alta DO whites, reds and rosés, built mostly on local Garnatxa, including white and hairy Garnatxa. Some wines blend in Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Chardonnay or Sauvignon Blanc.

Why we carry them

White Garnatxa from Terra Alta is one of Spain's under-the-radar whites, and the Cluas make a great case for it. Try it with grilled fish.
