Their story
Cellers l'Arboç began in 1919, when a handful of small farmers in the village of l'Arboç joined forces to press and sell their grapes together. It has grown into a cooperative of about 400 grower families farming roughly 1,000 hectares in the Penedès.
The co-op was among the first in the region to ferment at low temperatures. In 2006 it moved into a modern cellar and shifted from selling in bulk to bottling under its own labels.
How it's made
The Cavas are built on the traditional trio of Macabeo, Xarel·lo and Parellada, with Trepat for the rosé. The Pupitre Cavas are still riddled by hand in small quantities.
Why we carry them
Cava from a grower co-op is a great value way to drink traditional-method sparkling wine. We like it with fried snacks and salty cheese.
