Their story

Chambord comes from the Loire Valley, the stretch of France known for its royal châteaux, and it takes its name from the grandest of them. The liqueur was created in 1982 by Norton "Sky" Cooper at his family's cordial company, Charles Jacquin et Cie.

Cooper drew on the region's long tradition of raspberry liqueurs, which local lore links to the court of Louis XIV in the late 1600s. The result became a fixture behind bars around the world, recognizable by its orb-shaped bottle.

Brown-Forman acquired the brand in 2006 and has produced it since, still in the Loire Valley.

How it's made

Whole raspberries and blackberries are steeped in French spirits for several weeks, then a second infusion is drawn from the same fruit. The spent fruit is pressed for its juice and natural sugars, and everything is combined. The blend is finished with cognac, Madagascar vanilla, citrus peel, honey and herbs, landing at 16.5% ABV.

Why we carry them

We reach for Chambord when a glass of sparkling wine or a simple sour needs a deep berry note. A small pour goes a long way.
