Their story
Susie Hojel grew up in Mexico City, surrounded by the salsas, spices and dried chiles that later inspired her signature condiment. She started Chile Crunch in San Francisco in 2008, at a time when crunchy chile condiments were hard to find on U.S. shelves, and moved the business to Denver in 2012.
As chile crisps took off, the small company defended its name against much larger players. Hojel eventually reached an agreement with Momofuku, selling the Chile Crunch name while keeping the right to use it for her own product.
How it's made
Chile Crunch is a spicy, crisp blend of dried chiles and seasonings, made in the spirit of the table salsas of Hojel's childhood. It is meant to be spooned onto eggs, tacos, rice and just about anything else.
Why we carry them
We love Chile Crunch on fried eggs and avocado toast. It is one of the originals in a crowded category.
