Chinese Laundry
A small California family business bottling Sichuan-style dan dan noodle sauce.
Their story
Chinese Laundry, also sold as Chinese Laundry Kitchen, is a small family-owned business in California that is woman-owned and AAPI-owned.
Its best-known product is a dan dan sauce, built on the classic noodle dish from Sichuan province. The idea is simple: a jar that lets home cooks make a proper bowl of dan dan noodles on a weeknight.
How it's made
The sauce gets its nutty base from sesame paste and sesame oil, with heat from chili flake and a numbing tingle from roasted Sichuan peppercorns. Black vinegar, soy and a little cane sugar round it out, and it is made without preservatives, emulsifiers or binders.
Why we carry them
We reach for this when we want dan dan noodles without a long ingredient hunt. Toss it with noodles and a little ground pork or greens and dinner is done.
