Their story

Christie's Chips is the project of Christie Buck, an Indiana native who cooked at a two-Michelin-star restaurant in San Francisco before turning to chips.

The idea came from a vegan friend who said he hadn't had a sour cream and onion chip in about ten years, since nobody made one without dairy. Buck set out to match the flavor of the familiar supermarket version, minus the dairy and with less grease.

She began making batches by hand in a small commercial kitchen in South Central Los Angeles, and moved into a larger production facility in 2022. The range now includes flavors like sea salt, salt and vinegar, and sweet and spicy habanero.

How it's made

The chips are cooked thin and crispy in the classic style rather than kettle style. In place of buttermilk, cheese and whey powders, Buck builds her seasonings from onion powder, vinegar powder and a vegan buttermilk flavor.

Why we carry them

We like that these taste like the chips you grew up with while working for dairy-free snackers. The sour cream and onion is the one to start with.
