Their story
Ducastaing is an Armagnac name tied to the area around Condom, in the Gers department of Gascony. The company is registered as Compagnie d'Armagnac Ducastaing-Saint Vivant.
The brand has been part of the French spirits group La Martiniquaise since the 1980s, which still owns it today. It is best known for its range of VS and VSOP Armagnacs and its vintage-dated Bas-Armagnacs, some going back decades.
How it's made
Ducastaing Armagnacs are made under the AOC Armagnac rules from grapes such as Ugni Blanc, Folle Blanche and Baco. The spirit is distilled, then aged in French oak barrels, with time in cask varying by bottling.
Why we carry them
We like Ducastaing as an approachable way into Armagnac. A vintage bottle also makes a thoughtful birth-year gift.
