Their story
I Contadini is a family farm in Ugento, near the Ionian coast at the southern tip of Puglia. Siblings Edoardo, Emanuele and Gianna Trentin started the company in 2003, building on a farm their maternal grandfather had founded in the 1970s. None of them had farmed before, but they had spent their childhoods in their mother's home region.
In 2008 they bought neglected land near the sea in Ugento and brought it back into production. Today they farm about 52 hectares across several plots in Salento, with Edoardo running the fields and Emanuele and Gianna overseeing production.
How it's made
The farm uses crop rotation, organic fertilizers and water-saving systems, and runs partly on solar power. Vegetables are sun-dried and everything is made by hand without artificial preservatives. The range covers preserved vegetables, tomato products, capers, artichokes, olives, olive oil and baked goods like taralli and friselle made with Senatore Cappelli wheat.
Why we carry them
I Contadini jars bring the flavor of a Puglian kitchen straight to your table. We love their preserved vegetables on an antipasto board.
