Their story

Craigellachie Distillery stands in the village of the same name in the heart of Speyside, where the River Fiddich meets the Spey. It was built in 1891 by a group of blenders and merchants led by Alexander Edward.

For most of its life the distillery's whisky went into blends. Since 1998 it has been run by John Dewar & Sons, owned by Bacardi, which began releasing Craigellachie as a single malt in 2014. A refreshed core range followed in 2023.

How it's made

Craigellachie is distilled in Speyside and aged in oak for long periods before bottling. The core range includes a 13, 17 and 23 year old, plus a 13 year old finished in Bas Armagnac casks.

Why we carry them

We like Craigellachie for Scotch drinkers who want something with more weight than a typical Speyside. The 13 year old is a good start.
