Their story

De La Calle grew out of Here Studio, a Los Angeles branding agency led by Alex Matthews. Matthews had tasted tepache on trips to Mexico, but it was a friend's homemade batch that convinced him to bottle it.

He and a small team spent a week in Mexico tasting dozens of regional styles, and through that trip they met a family business that had been making tepache for generations. That family became their production partner.

The brand launched in January 2021, with early shelf space at Whole Foods in Southern California.

How it's made

Tepache is traditionally made by fermenting pineapple rinds with water, sweetener and spices for several days. De La Calle follows that approach with pineapple, turbinado sugar, agave and cinnamon, keeps each can low in sugar, and is made in Mexico by its family partner.

if you picked it up in Mexico it wouldn't be out of place.

Why we carry them

If you have never tried tepache, this is a fun introduction: fizzy, lightly sweet and tangy with pineapple and spice.
