Their story
Jean-François Gravel started home brewing in 1991 and met Stéphane Ostiguy during an internship at the Armand-Frappier institute. After years of planning, the two opened the Dieu du Ciel! brewpub on Laurier Avenue West in Montreal on September 11, 1998.
In late 2006 the team began renovating a building in Saint-Jérôme, north of the city, building a production brewery there first and opening a second pub in 2008. Other partners have joined over the years, and the company has moved much of its packaged beer into cans.
The brewery describes its mission simply: make bold, exciting beers.
How it's made
Beer is served at the original Montreal brewpub and at the Saint-Jérôme pub, while the Saint-Jérôme production brewery makes the bottled and canned beers that travel further afield.
Why we carry them
Dieu du Ciel! helped put Quebec on the craft beer map, and their beers still feel adventurous. We like them for anyone who wants something with real character in the glass.
