Their story
Domaine Bitouzet-Prieur is a family estate in the village of Volnay, in Burgundy's Côte de Beaune. François Bitouzet has managed it since 2005, following his father, Vincent, who brought careful organic farming to the vineyards.
The domaine covers about 13.5 hectares, mostly in Volnay and Meursault, and makes 17 different wines. The vines are split roughly 60 percent Pinot Noir and 40 percent Chardonnay.
How it's made
François continues his father's approach in the vineyard, including a return to tilling the soil. The family waits to harvest fully ripe grapes before turning them into wines that reflect each Volnay and Meursault site.
Why we carry them
Bitouzet-Prieur makes Volnay and Meursault the classic way, with a light touch. We like their Volnay for a Pinot Noir with both finesse and depth.
