Their story

Domaine de Colette was founded by René Gauthier in Lantignié, a village in the heart of the Beaujolais crus that many regard as the best spot in the Régnié cru. His son Jacky studied oenology at 17 and went to work alongside him in the vines.

Jacky now runs the estate, and his son Pierre-Alexandre has joined him. The family makes Régnié, Fleurie, Morgon, and Moulin-à-Vent, plus Beaujolais-Villages red and white, from vines that average about 45 years old, with the Colette plot itself over 80.

How it's made

Vines are bush-trained on granite, with grass grown between rows and no chemical fertilizers; the estate holds HVE Level 3 status and is working toward organic. Grapes are hand-harvested, sorted, moved by gravity, and fermented as whole berries by carbonic maceration before gentle pressing.

Why we carry them

Colette is a family Beaujolais made from old vines with a lot of care. We like the Régnié slightly chilled with a roast chicken.
