Domaine De La Monette
A historic Mercurey estate with new life under Pierre Etienne Chevallier.
- Based in
- Mercurey, Burgundy
Their story
Domaine de la Monette is in the village of Mercurey, in Burgundy's Côte Chalonnaise, and its roots here go back centuries.
In December 2022 the estate was bought by Pierre Etienne Chevallier, who had worked at Domaine de la Vougeraie and spent six years between the Côte d'Or and California before starting his own project. 2023 was his first full vintage.
The domaine holds 12.5 hectares, mostly in Mercurey, and is converting to organic farming.
How it's made
Whites ferment in large demi-muid barrels with very little new oak, aiming for freshness over richness. Reds are fully destemmed and extracted gently, again with only a small share of new wood.
Why we carry them
Mercurey is one of Burgundy's quieter corners, and we're glad to follow what a new generation is doing with this old estate.
