Their story
Domaine des Boissières is a small estate in Balsac, within the Marcillac appellation of southwest France, where the local red grape is Mansois, also called Fer Servadou.
Its 3.75 hectares are planted mostly to Mansois alongside a long list of old regional varieties, from Jurançon Noir and Valdiguié to Mouyssaguès and Gouais. La Quille de Rouge is one of the estate's red wines.
How it's made
The vineyards are certified organic and farmed with biodynamic practices. Fermentation uses ambient yeasts in steel tanks and barrels, with some whole clusters and a short maceration, and the wines age in older Burgundy barrels. They are bottled with no fining, no filtration and no added sulfur.
Why we carry them
Marcillac is one of France's lesser-known reds, and we think this is a lively, honest way to meet the Mansois grape.
