Their story
Steve Millet runs Domaine Gérard Millet in Bué, a village often counted among the best in the Sancerre appellation.
The family farms 19 hectares in Sancerre and another 6 in Menetou-Salon, in the cooler villages of Morogues and Aubinges. The range covers white and red Sancerre, including single-vineyard bottlings, and red and white Menetou-Salon.
How it's made
The vines grow mostly on Kimmeridgian marl and flint. The estate is HVE3 certified and uses no insecticides, herbicides or anti-botrytis treatments. Most wines ferment in stainless steel, while the single-vineyard wines ferment spontaneously and age in 400 to 600 liter neutral oak barrels.
Why we carry them
This is classic Sancerre from a top village, and we like the Menetou-Salon as a friendly-priced neighbor to it.
