Their story
Domaine Gilbert Bossard is a Muscadet estate in La Chapelle-Heulin, in the Loire-Atlantique, where the Bossard family has grown vines for nearly five centuries.
Jean-Louis Bossard took over the domaine in 2001. Today it covers about 40 hectares near the Marais de Goulaine, whose microclimate helps the grapes ripen early.
How it's made
The estate makes Muscadet Sèvre et Maine, mostly aged sur lie, along with Gros Plant du Pays Nantais. The family has tended to harvest late for full ripeness, and some cuvées go through malolactic fermentation.
Why we carry them
A traditional, easygoing Muscadet that we like with oysters, shellfish or a simple weeknight fish.
