Their story
Vincent Lagille and his sister, Maud, run this family Champagne house in Treslon, a village near Reims, where the Lagilles have made wine since 1818. Vincent joined the family business in 2012.
The estate farms about 7.3 hectares. More than half is planted to Pinot Meunier, with Pinot Noir and Chardonnay making up the rest.
How it's made
Vincent prunes all of the Meunier using Cordon de Royat, a method usually kept for Chardonnay and Pinot Noir in grand cru sites. Most cuvées are single-variety; the one blend, La Grande Réserve, uses equal parts of all three grapes. The style leans on barrel vinification and low dosage.
Why we carry them
If you're curious what Meunier tastes like on its own, we think Lagille's bottlings are a fine place to start.
