Domaine Vignoble Duffour

Bright, easygoing Gascon wines from a father-and-son family estate.

Based in
Gascony

Their story

The Duffour family makes wine in Gascony, in southwest France, from a 12th-century limestone farmhouse surrounded by fields of sunflowers and corn. Nicolas Duffour runs the cellar today, working with his father under the name Duffour Père et Fils.

Nicolas's father belonged to the first wave of Gascon growers to focus on quality white wine. In 1982 he began farming with a lighter touch on the land, an approach the family still follows.

The Duffours make wines meant for everyday drinking rather than for experts, built on local grapes like Colombard and Gros Manseng.

How it's made

The family grows Colombard, Gros Manseng and Ugni Blanc for its whites, and Merlot, Tannat and Cabernet Sauvignon for its red blend. They handle fermentation and filtration in-house and use recovery panels when spraying so treatments stay on the vines. The estate holds France's HVE (High Environmental Value) certification.

There is no future in making wine only for 'experts'.

Why we carry them

We keep Duffour around for crisp, fruity whites at an everyday price. They are the kind of bottle you open on a Tuesday without a second thought.
