Their story
Don Fulano is made by the Fonseca family, who have farmed agave around Atotonilco in Jalisco's highlands for more than 140 years. Before they distilled, they were farmers and ran a local shop, and they supplied agave to many of the region's well-known distillers.
In the mid-1980s, during an agave shortage, the family bought La Tequileña, a distillery in the center of the town of Tequila. Enrique Fonseca, the fourth generation of agave growers, became its owner, and Don Fulano is produced there today.
How it's made
Don Fulano uses mature, estate-grown Blue Weber agave. Most of the spirit is distilled in copper alembics, with an experimental copper column still also in use, and the brand uses its own yeast and volcanic spring water with no additives. Aged expressions rest in French oak casks from Limousin and Nevers.
Why we carry them
We like Don Fulano for clean, agave-forward tequila from a family that grew the plant long before they distilled it. The blanco shines in a simple margarita.
