Their story
Dragon Distillery is a small craft distillery in Frederick, Maryland, near the city's airport. It was started by Mark Lambert, a Dungeons & Dragons fan, which explains the dragons on every bottle and names like Joust Gin and Basilisk Bourbon.
The company formed in late 2014 and held its grand opening in February 2016 as the first craft distillery inside Frederick city limits. Lambert says the lineup grows from customer feedback, which led to a range of lightly carbonated canned cocktails, and the distillery has worked with Frederick's Flying Dog brewery on a rye whiskey.
How it's made
Spirits are made in small batches from locally sourced ingredients, with each batch handled by hand. The main still is a copper pot still nicknamed Smaug. For the Dragon Dog rye, Flying Dog brews the mash and Dragon ferments, distills and barrels it.
We are Frederick City's first craft distillery. We use locally-sourced products, and hand-craft each batch.
Why we carry them
We like Dragon Distillery for playful, small-batch spirits with a sense of humor. The canned cocktails are an easy pick for a picnic.
