Their story
El Segundo Brewing Company is the work of Rob Croxall, who left a corporate job in aerospace finance to brew beer in his hometown of El Segundo, just south of LAX. He was joined early on by partner Thomas Kelley, a certified Cicerone.
The first beers reached local accounts in May 2011, and bottles followed in 2013. From the start the goal was to be the hop-focused brewery for the South Bay and greater Los Angeles.
How it's made
The brewery leans into hoppy styles. Its early best seller, White Dog IPA, uses wheat malt and New Zealand Nelson Sauvin hops, and the lineup also includes darker beers like the Standard Crude imperial stout.
My worst day here, still beats my best day there.
Why we carry them
We reach for El Segundo when we want a bright, hoppy California IPA. It is a good one to bring to a backyard barbecue.
