Their story
Embolden Beer Co. was started by cousins Cody Morris and Andrew Kelly in San Diego. Kelly is the head brewer and Morris runs operations.
The brewery opened in November 2020, in the middle of the pandemic, in a former brewery space in Miramar that it shares with sister brand New Motion Beverages. Each brand fills half of the 32 taps. In 2025 Embolden added Shogun, a Japanese-inspired line of beers.
How it's made
Kelly brews a range that leans on IPAs, alongside a kolsch, a pilsner and richer golden and pastry stouts. Beer is brewed on site in Miramar and distributed around California.
We got a bigger footprint than we originally intended.
Why we carry them
We like Embolden as a taste of San Diego's newer brewing scene. Pick up an IPA for a sunny afternoon.
