Their story
En Cavale is the label of winemakers Wolfgang Weber and Chad Westbrook Hinds. They began in 2017 in Richmond, in Contra Costa County, and later moved the winery north to Etna in Siskiyou County, near the Oregon border.
The pair work with fruit from around Northern California, including Contra Costa and the North Coast, with bottlings such as a North Coast Zinfandel.
How it's made
All fruit comes from organically farmed California vineyards. Fermentations start on their own with native yeasts in neutral oak, and the wines are bottled without fining or filtration.
Why we carry them
We like En Cavale for honest, low-intervention California wine. The Zinfandel is a good bottle for weeknight pasta or pizza.
