Their story
Eric Chevalier farms Domaine de l'Aujardière in Saint-Philbert-de-Grand-Lieu, a village just south of the Lac de Grand-Lieu in the western Loire. The Chevalier family worked these vines quietly for three generations before Eric stepped in as the fourth, taking over the estate with Gaëlle in the mid-2000s.
Since then he has raised the profile of the domaine and of the Muscadet Côtes de Grand-Lieu appellation, while also working with grapes like Folle Blanche, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
How it's made
The estate has steadily moved toward organic farming, taking a key step in that direction in 2016. The goal in the cellar is wines that are fresh, saline, fine and clean, with Muscadet raised on its lees for texture.
Why we carry them
We think Eric's Muscadet is exactly what you want with oysters or a simple plate of fish. It's crisp, bright and a reminder of how good this corner of the Loire can be.
