Their story
Evan Williams bourbon is named for a Welsh immigrant who settled in Kentucky in the late 1700s and became Louisville's first wharf master in 1797. The label credits him as an early distiller in 1783, though some historians question whether he was really Kentucky's first.
The modern brand was introduced in 1957 by Heaven Hill, the family-owned Kentucky distiller co-founded by the Shapira brothers and still run by their descendants. Today the whiskey is distilled at Heaven Hill's Louisville distillery and bottled in Bardstown, and the Evan Williams Bourbon Experience in downtown Louisville is a stop on the Kentucky Bourbon Trail.
How it's made
Evan Williams is a straight Kentucky bourbon, aged at least four years in new charred oak. The flagship Black Label is bottled at 86 proof, with older and single-barrel bottlings also released.
Why we carry them
Evan Williams is one of the best values in bourbon, plain and simple. It's a dependable bottle for Old Fashioneds, highballs or a casual pour.
