Connecticut backyard-barn brewery known for hazy IPAs and fruited sours.

- East Hampton, Connecticut
Their story
Fat Orange Cat Brew Co. was started by Mike Klucznik and Sheila Mullins in a backyard barn in East Hampton, Connecticut, and named after their orange cat, Billy. The tasting yard, complete with farm animals, became a weekend destination during the state's brewery boom.
The brewery made its name with hazy IPAs and fruited kettle sours, sold under colorful cartoon labels. As demand grew, production moved off the property.
The barn taproom closed for good in December 2021. The beer continues to be brewed under contract at Twelve Percent Brewing Project in North Haven, Connecticut.
How it's made
Early batches were brewed in the barn itself. Today the recipes are produced on contract at a larger Connecticut brewery, with a lineup centered on hazy IPAs, fruited sours and a rotating mix of other styles.
Why we carry them
We like Fat Orange Cat for juicy New England IPAs with a sense of humor. Grab one for the label, stay for the hops.
