Their story
Firehook grew out of a Washington, D.C. bakery founded by Pierre Abushacra, known locally for its breads before its crackers spread nationally. The name comes from an ancient baker's tool, a hook used to pull loaves from clay pots set in fire pits.
In 2024 the private investment firm Forward Consumer Partners acquired Firehook, with Abushacra keeping a significant minority stake. Former Tate's Bake Shop chief executive Maura Mottolese took over as CEO.
How it's made
Firehook brings a bread baker's approach to its crackers, aiming for a thin, crisp cracker sturdy enough for cheese and spreads.
Forward shares our vision and, most importantly, our values.
Why we carry them
Firehook crackers are a reliable base for a cheese board: crisp, sturdy and easy to pair. They hold up well under a soft cheese.
