Their story
Folk Machine is one of the labels made by Kenny Likitprakong of Hobo Wine Company. Likitprakong grew up in Sonoma County, where his father managed a winery, and took his first winemaking job in the Santa Cruz Mountains in 1999.
He started Hobo in 2002 with two barrels of Dry Creek Valley zinfandel and has been based in Santa Rosa since 2013. Alongside Folk Machine, the company makes several other labels, all aimed at good wine people can afford to drink often.
How it's made
Hobo owns no vineyards and buys fruit from California growers Likitprakong has worked with for years. He sets a target price first and builds each wine to meet it. The company gives 1% of revenue to environmental groups through 1% for the Planet.
Why we carry them
Folk Machine is a reliable pick when we want something fresh and characterful without spending much. Its wines are made for weeknight dinners.
