Ghost Town Brewing
Oakland brewery born from a metal band's rehearsal space.
- Founded by
- Ryan Nosek
- Based in
- Oakland, California
Their story
Ghost Town Brewing started with Ryan Nosek and a metal band in Oakland. Around 2008 the band needed a way to pay for its rehearsal space, so Nosek decided to start brewing beer to cover the rent.
The brewery kept the band's bold, loud look on its cans and merchandise and grew into several locations, including a taproom and restaurant. At the 2022 Great American Beer Festival it won two gold and two silver medals, along with Brewery and Brewer of the Year honors.
How it's made
Ghost Town brews and cans its beer in Oakland, and has added fermentation tanks over the years as demand grew. Its releases come in custom-designed cans that often sell out, and the beer also ships to customers around California.
We thought we might as well offset the cost of this rehearsal studio and start a brewery.
Why we carry them
We are proud to carry an Oakland brewery with this much personality and this many medals. The cans alone are worth a look.
