Their story
Giddy Up Nuts was started by Kristy Mangia, who left a job at Disney's corporate offices to build her own snack company. The idea came on a drive home from a mountain vacation, when a gas station stop turned up nothing but sugary, processed snacks.
She began with a stand at the Calabasas farmers market, selling the seasoned almonds she had been making for family gatherings. The business grew into wholesale accounts, and Mangia was invited to represent Los Angeles makers at Le Bon Marche in Paris in 2018.
How it's made
The almonds come from groves in nearby Bakersfield. Herbs and spices are sourced mostly from the Calabasas farmers market, with some from fair-trade suppliers, and the nuts are seasoned in a handful of flavors.
Why we carry them
We like Giddy Up Nuts for a savory snack that feels homemade. They are great on a cheese board or tucked into a bag for the road.
