Their story
Hard Truth grew out of a business Ed Ryan and Jeff McCabe started in Nashville, Indiana, in 2008, which combined a restaurant and a brewery. They added distilling in 2015.
The distillery sits on a wooded 325-acre property in Brown County, a short drive from Brown County State Park, and has grown into one of Indiana's larger craft distilleries. Early releases included gin, vodka and rum, with bourbon following as barrels came of age.
How it's made
Hard Truth cooks, ferments and distills on site using Vendome copper equipment, including a tall continuous whiskey column with a doubler, a hybrid pot still and a separate vodka column. Grain is stored in silos and milled at the distillery, and whiskey ages in barrels on the property.
Why we carry them
We like Hard Truth as a way to explore Midwest craft spirits made from grain to bottle in one place. Their range covers both cocktail staples and sipping whiskey.
