Their story

Hayman's traces its roots to 1863, when London pharmacist James Burrough opened a small distillery in Chelsea and helped develop the drier style now called London Dry gin. Burrough was the great-grandfather of Christopher Hayman.

The family business was sold in 1987, and Christopher bought back part of it so the family could keep making gin. He has spent more than 50 years in the trade and remains master distiller, while his children James and Miranda now run the company from its distillery in Balham, South West London.

How it's made

Hayman's distills its gins in London using family recipes, including a London Dry, a sweeter Old Tom in the 19th-century style, and a Navy Strength gin. The sloe gin is made by steeping English sloe berries in the London Dry for several months.

Why we carry them

We like Hayman's for classic English gin from a family with deep roots in the craft. The Old Tom is a great way to taste how gin drank before London Dry took over.
