Their story
Hippeas was created by Livio Bisterzo, an Italian entrepreneur who spent years in London before moving to California. He came up with the idea in 2015 under his company Green Park Brands.
The snack launched in the United States and the U.K. at the same time in the summer of 2016, with flavors like Vegan White Cheddar and Sriracha Sunshine, and quickly spread to stores in both countries.
How it's made
Hippeas puffs start with organic chickpeas, which are extruded and baked into light, crunchy puffs by co-packers in the U.S. and Ireland. They are gluten-free. A portion of sales goes to Farm Africa, a charity that works with chickpea farmers in eastern Africa.
Why we carry them
We like Hippeas as a lighter crunch for lunchboxes and afternoon snacking. The white cheddar is the easy crowd pleaser.
