Their story
Hotel Starlino is a line of Italian vermouths and aperitivi made at Torino Distillati, a distillery near Turin owned by the Vergnano family. Master distiller and winemaker Beppe Ronco leads production, drawing on the distillery's long history with vermouth in the city where it was born.
The brand launched around 2020, with packaging that nods to grand old hotels: apothecary-style bottles, luggage-tag labels, and a little "do not disturb" sign on the back. The range includes a classic rosso, a rose vermouth, and an orange aperitivo.
How it's made
Each vermouth starts with Italian wine fortified with spirit and infused with botanicals. The Rosso blends white wine with Marsala and Sicilian grapes, adds wormwood, bitter orange, and cloves, then rests six months in ex-bourbon barrels. The orange version uses a distillate of Sicilian blood oranges.
Torino is the birth-place of vermouth and we have been making it for around 100 years.
Why we carry them
We like the barrel-aged Rosso in a Manhattan or Negroni, and the rose is lovely with tonic on a warm day. The bottles look great on a home bar too.
