Their story
Humble Sea Brewing Co. was started in Santa Cruz by Frank Scott Krueger, Taylor West, and their childhood friend and brewer Nick Pavlina. From the start, they built the brewery around three things: beer, community, and design, with plans to give part of their profits to ocean conservation.
They began with about $10,000 and a 15-gallon homebrew setup, brewing in the Santa Cruz Mountains and running a tiny one-barrel operation for around two years. That small system pushed them to experiment, and they worked through more than a hundred recipes before opening a taproom on Santa Cruz's west side. They have since added taprooms in other Bay Area towns.
How it's made
Humble Sea is best known for its "foggy" IPAs, the Bay Area take on hazy, New England-style IPA. The team brews a wide rotating range, drawing on both European and West Coast styles, and uses work by local artists on its labels.
Our featured pick
Socks & Sandals Foggy IPA (16OZ)
$8.00
Socks & Sandals was the producer very first foggy IPA and it’s stuck with us since before the producer taproom opened over 5 years ago!
Our three core values are beer, community and design.
Why we carry them
Humble Sea is a Northern California favorite of ours, just down the coast. Pick up a foggy IPA and check out the label art.
