Their story

Itxas Harri is a partnership between Ignacio Ameztoi and Iñaki Guelbenzu. The two took over two hectares of old vines in Monteagudo, in the Ribera Baja at the southern tip of Navarra, when the farmer who tended them retired.

The name is Basque, and the wines carry a coastal lightness that is unusual for inland Spain. There are two: Roxa, a dry rosé, and Beltza, a red.

How it's made

The wines come from old-vine Garnacha, with Tempranillo added to the red. The rosé is made by direct pressing, and both wines are kept fresh and lower in alcohol than is typical for the region.

Why we carry them

These are bright, easy wines that taste much lighter than you expect from Navarra. Serve the rosé well chilled.
