Their story

The Baczewski story starts in 1782, when Lejb Beczeles opened a distillery near Lviv, then part of the Habsburg Empire. His grandson moved the business to the edge of the city and took the name Baczewski, and the J.A. on the label stands for Józef Adam, who ran the company from 1856. It became a purveyor to the imperial court and was known across Europe for its vodkas and liqueurs.

World War II destroyed the factories, and members of the family were arrested. After the war, the surviving family moved to Vienna and rebuilt the business there, where it still operates. The brand returned to Poland in 2011.

How it's made

The signature bottling is a clear potato vodka. The house also makes liqueurs, wormwood spirit and gin.

Why we carry them

Few vodkas carry this much history. Pour it ice cold, the classic way.
