Their story
John Philip Wiser, a New Yorker, took over a distillery and farm in Prescott, Ontario, in 1857 and soon became its sole owner. His whisky grew into one of the best-known names in Canada.
Corby Spirit and Wine took a majority stake in 1935, and both companies became part of Pernod Ricard in 2005. Since the 1980s Wiser's has been distilled and bottled at the Hiram Walker distillery in Windsor, Ontario.
How it's made
Corn, rye, barley and wheat are each mashed, fermented and distilled separately, then aged in new oak, ex-bourbon or wine casks for at least three years. A master blender combines them into styles from the Deluxe blend to the 18 Year Old.
Why we carry them
Wiser's is a good way into Canadian whisky, smooth and easy to mix. The 18 Year Old is worth sipping neat.
