Their story

John Jameson was a lawyer from Alloa, Scotland, who founded his distillery on Bow Street in Dublin in 1780. For nearly two centuries it was one of the great Dublin whiskey houses.

In 1966 Jameson joined Cork Distillers and John Power to form Irish Distillers, and a decade later production moved to the new Midleton Distillery in County Cork. Bow Street is now a visitor center. Pernod Ricard acquired Irish Distillers, and with it Jameson, in 1988.

Today Jameson is by far the best-selling Irish whiskey in the world.

How it's made

Jameson is a blend of grain whiskey and single pot still whiskey, the traditional Irish style made from malted and unmalted barley. It is distilled and aged at Midleton in County Cork.

Why we carry them

We think Jameson is a smart starting point for anyone new to whiskey, and the special releases from the same distillery reward a closer look.
