Their story

Jolie-Laide is a tiny winery in Sebastopol, in Sonoma County, started by Scott Schultz and later joined by his partner, Jenny. The two of them do the work themselves.

The name is a French phrase for something beautiful in an unconventional way, and the wines follow that idea with unusual grapes and a light touch. Glou d'Etat is their easy-drinking red, meant for pouring with friends.

How it's made

Glou d'Etat blends Grenache, Mourvèdre and Syrah. The grapes are foot-crushed, fermented as whole clusters with native yeast and aged in neutral oak, with only a small sulfite addition at bottling.

Why we carry them

We like this chilled a bit on a warm evening. It is bright, fruity and easy to love.
